Dental Emergency Q&A

Learn answers to frequently asked questions about dental emergencies below:

What do I do if I have sudden or severe tooth pain?

If you suddenly feel sharp tooth pain, take over-the-counter pain medication and call our office. You may treat swelling by applying an ice pack against your cheek. It is important that you receive care as soon as possible because toothaches may be caused by an infection or abscess.

How do I treat and replace a lost tooth?

Have you just knocked out a tooth? Pick it up by the crown, or top, and gently rinse it in water. Apply pressure to the gum socket with a clean and damp cloth. We may be able to reattach the tooth if it is kept moist; you may transport the tooth to our office in a cold glass of milk. If the tooth cannot be found or reattached, our team can provide you with a dental implant. Implants are dental prosthetics that restore single missing teeth at the root.

What do I do if my crown, bridge, or denture is broken?

If you have just broken a dental bridge, crown, or denture, bring the restoration to our office. Our team may be able to replace some parts of the restoration. However, we can also easily provide you with a new and sturdier restoration.
