Dr. Chavala Harris is a Winston-Salem, NC native and a graduate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in Biology. During her time at UNC-CH, she was extremely active in Biology research and had publications in several scientific journals. After attending Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, in Nashville, Tennessee, she completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center/Atrium Health, in Winston-Salem, NC.
During her time in Residency, Dr. Harris worked with both Adult and Children cancer patients, those with AIDS/HIV, and other severely medically compromised patients; providing them with dental care and working carefully with their Oncologists and other Medical Specialists, to ensure that patient’s overall medical safety and dental health was maintained.
After completion of her Residency, Dr. Harris continues to dedicate her time to current dental and medical knowledge, completing continuing education classes and courses monthly.
Dr. Harris’ philosophy of care is providing, “Whole patient care.” Dr. Harris is an active member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society, where she has been featured on “Ask the Dentist” segments and on radio stations providing information on Children’s Dental Health.
